Calling all Surrey and South East archers. Guildford AC is hosting an AGB one-day ‘Archery Crafts’ workshop on the 2nd June. Details of the event are below, and booking can be dome via the AGB Sport80 portal. Cost is £65 (I think) for the day, which I know is not cheap, but it does give you a full day of expert and experienced advice and hands-on demonstrations.
Archery Crafts – 2 June
This workshop includes hands-on experience for archers and coaches to learn the crafts of making arrows, bow strings and customised bow grips. You’ll learn about the different materials and brands along with the right selection and testing. This hands-on workshop is suitable for children and adults, and will ensure you have the skills for these important archery crafts. Delivered by Lloyd Brown and Nicky Hunt (Commonwealth compound gold medalist).
Calling all Surrey archery coaches – just a reminder that there is an AGB coaching workshop on at Guildford AC on 12/13th May (GAC is simply providing a free venue, not managing the event itself) – booking via the AGB Sport80 portal, places are limited to 20 (11 gone already). Cost is £120 per person for the full weekend, (maybe ask your club/county for some help with the cost?)
AGBs summary of the event is as follows:
Coaching the Technical Framework – 12-13 May
This workshop is designed to introduce coaches to our new Technical Framework during a hands-on and interactive workshop with Lloyd Brown (former USA and Olympic Coach). The technical skills used by the best archers in the world will be discussed, as well as the coaching skills and athlete drills for learning good shooting technique. The main outcome will be learning how to evaluate technique along with drills and skills to improve form. You may also invite an archer to attend the second day for approximately two hours, so you can practise what you have learned from day one. We’ve had some very positive feedback from the first workshops, with archers being very happy with their experience.
